Phase 1
This is a tank & spank phase. Malygos should be faced away from the rest of the group so his breath attack doesn't affect the ranged folks. Every so often, a Power Spark will spawn from the portals around the room. These must be DPS'd down immediately, as they will increase Malygos' damage by 50% if they reach him. Death Knights can yoink the sparks away from Malygos if they get too close. Also, Malygos will occasionally cast Vortex, which spins the raid up into the air much like the Nexus boss Grand Magus Telestra's Gravity Well. If any sparks are alive while Vortex is active, they will stop in place while the raid scrambles around.
When the sparks are killed, they give raid members standing in range a stacking buff that increases damage dealt by 50%. This is a Good Thing™ to stand near.
Phase 2
When Malygos gets down to 50% health, Phase 2 starts. He'll disengage and send NPC's on flying discs to attack the raid. Throughout the phase, there will be purple bubbles around the room that the raid needs to get inside- they reduce magic damage taken by 50%. The bubbles start out large, and then shrink to nothing, so the raid will have to do two things: Stay in the dead center of the bubbles at all times, and move quickly to the next bubble when the time comes. When the NPCs on discs die, they drop their disc on the ground, and a raid member can take it over. This is a Good Thing™, as raid members on discs no longer take damage for the rest of the phase.
- The first discs should be taken by melee DPS classes. They can then fly up to the other NPCs and attack them without having to stay in the bubbles.
- The raid doesn't have to move to every bubble that spawns. Generally, every other bubble should be sufficient, as long as everyone's in the center of the bubble.
- There is a short amount of time in between NPCs on discs in which Malygos will be targetable. Ranged DPS can use this time to get in extra shots on Malygos.
Phase 3
In which the floor breaks, and the whole raid is thrown into the air, only to land on the backs of red drakes, which will be your ride vehicle for the rest of the fight. Please hold small children by the hand, and keep your hands and arms inside the ride vehicle at all times. The platform is moving at the same speed as your ride vehicle. Watch your step and gather all personal belongings as you exit. Por favor, manténgase alejado de las puertas.
Wait. That's not right.
So you're riding a red dragon, and there's a Malygos here. Obvious exits are... well, there aren't any. So you've gotta kill Malygos. This is now a 10-man version of the Aces High! daily quest, which I know everyone loves doing and is expert at. What's that, you say? You hate it, and only ever did it once on a dare and promised yourself you'd never do it again? Well, crap. Don't give up hope, though. Here's some tips and a macro for you to mash that should help things along.
- Make sure you have self-targeting casts turned on in your interface options. If you don't, you'll have to target your drake manually to cast Revivify and Flame Shield on yourself.
- The first thing to do when you get on your drake is to cast Revivify on yourself five times. This will give you a good ticking HOT that should protect you through Malygos' Surge of Power attack and the random Static Fields that spawn around the area. Also, make sure the raid is spread out, so that the Static Fields don't do too much damage.
- And finally, a macro that you can simply mash over and over once you've got your Revivify stacked on yourself and targeted Malygos:
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/castsequence reset=target Flame Spike, Flame Spike, Engulf in Flames, Revivify
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
